Established in 1980, in Toronto, Ontario, the school - Young Choung TaeKwonDo Academy, has a distinguished reputation for producing high performance athletes, world class martial artists, and top leaders in the community.

Master Choung is an 8th degree black belt who holds &/or have held numerous executive TaeKwonDo positions and achieved many awards for his dedication towards TaeKwonDo. Some positions held include: Head Master of YCTKD, Chairman of WTF Canada's coaching committee, High-performance coach's mentor (National Coaching Institute), and Technical Advisor to the Canadian Military TaeKwonDo Team, as well as being the National Team Head Coach for Canada, and the Olympic Coach in 1988, and 1992. He is also credited with NCCP Level 5 (National Coaching Certification Program), a first in Canadian TaeKwonDo.

His effective techniques have earned him Awards of Excellence of National and International heights. Each year YCTKD produces numerous national champions and nurtures international caliber champions. Among the multitude of TaeKwonDo clubs available in the area, Master Choung distinguishes himself by emphasizing personal, high quality instruction. A school that has raised generations of martial artists, many YCTKD seniors continue to flourish into successful Coaches, Officials, Trainers, and Instructors, mentoring the next generation
